Finally! - Utah Moves To Protect Citizens From Illegal Alien ID Theft

Salt Lake City - In a rare move, a state attorney general plans to begin notifying thousands of residents whom it suspects have had their Social Security numbers misused by undocumented job applicants. (read illegal aliens)

This week, Utah's top law enforcement office will send out a first batch of letters based on data collected for state public-assistance programs. (welfare) It is sending only 100 letters for now – out of a potential 20,000 – for fear of being overwhelmed by upset citizens seeking help.

In January, Utah took the unique step of changing its laws to specifically allow this notification, in response to high-profile reports of a growing number of children's Social Security numbers being compromised. This is the first such state law in the US in recent years.

Laws and incomplete data hinder most states and the federal Social Security Administration from informing citizens of anomalies with their Social Security numbers. Common red flags: people with multiple names filing wages under the same number, and young children showing wage earnings.

The system's enforced silence irks some officials concerned with the proliferating mess caused by identity theft. But at the federal level the issue is tangled up with the emotionally charged paralysis over illegal immigration.

Identity theft is a federal felony, that can wreak havoc in the personal lives of citizens. Estimates of identity theft perpetrated by illegals nationwide range between 4 and 7 million although the government is unwilling to admit this.

The average sentence for identity theft for US citizens is nine years. Illegal immigrants are seldom prosecuted when caught and are released.

"I really am plenty upset at the US government for having put the states in the position of having to deal with all these problems when it's really a federal issue," says Utah's assistant attorney general Richard Hamp, who spearheaded Utah's effort to bring transparency to
those databases the state controls. "Why wasn't the federal government either enforcing the border-crossing laws or giving out workforce numbers so you didn't compound the problems with the Social Security numbers?"

According to Mr. Hamp, data from the federal Social Security Administration (SSA) showed in 2000 that some 132,000 Utahns had compromised numbers. State officials, however, don't have a full data set to work with, and so instead have looked at public-assistance rolls kept by the state's Department of Workforce Services.

A useful number

Many undocumented workers use someone else's Social Security number to fill out a job form – and nothing more. The concern, however, is that more illegal workers will begin to use the number for credit applications, mortgages, and other purposes as they put down roots here..

At the very least, the workplace records wind up on victims' credit reports, and they may also be cross-pollinating hospital and criminal justice databases, says Hamp.

"It isn't just a work issue. It's a financial issue, it's becoming a medical issue, and it's becoming a 'do you want to spend a night in jail because of somebody else's warrant' issue. The ripples are
becoming waves," Hamp says.

The consequences have not been quite so dramatic for three Utah victims contacted for this article.

Kyle McOmber and Dain Berrett, both students at Brigham Young University in Provo, each learned from employers' background checks that someone was using their numbers. It's common, Mr. McOmber's new boss told him, for undocumented workers to know the first three
digits assigned by the state and to guess at the rest.

"I was just kind of shocked that it could happen so easily," says McOmber. His next surprise: His doppelganger, a man in Texas with a Hispanic last name, had been using the number since 1997, when McOmber was a minor. "I had tons of jobs after that."

"It seemed like it was something I could take care of easily. But it's been kind of frustrating actually," he adds, estimating that he's spent 10 hours waiting in lines, calling, and faxing paperwork to credit agencies.

Fifteen months later he still hasn't been able to clear his record and put a freeze on any credit applications by the Texas man. So far, however, the number has been misused only for jobs.

For his part, Mr. Berrett had to send copies of his identification to the SSA; the matter was cleared in three weeks. "I understand that it wasn't the Social Security Administration's fault, but it just kind of bugged me that someone could randomly take my number and do anything with it. I just wish he had to do some verification instead, not me."

A third Utah man applied for public assistance for his family only to be told his household income exceeded the limit because wages were being reported on his child's number. The father refuses to be identified because of his sympathy for illegal immigrants.

McOmber, who spent two years in Guatemala on a Mormon mission, has seen the hardships that drive people to the US. "I love Latin Americans, but it's not fair to come in illegally and do that kind of thing. I'm all for people coming in legally."

If names don't match numbers

The SSA says it has $585 billion in wages placed in "suspense files." These are wages reported from the Internal Revenue Service on a W-2 form that shows a mismatch between name and number stored in its database. The SSA notifies the person on the W-2 – usually the perpetrator – if it's a case of ID theft.

Why not notify the person in the database who may be a victim?

"There is an IRS ruling that Social Security can't share that info we get from them with anybody else," says Dorothy Clark, a SSA spokeswoman. She adds that the agency often doesn't have a current address for the person in the database, nor can it determine citizenship status.

While Congress recently has held hearings on expanding tougher identity verification procedures by employers, that partial solution is a proxy for the illegal immigration fight, drowning out the ID theft issue, says a congressional staffer.

Hamp says Utah's Department of Workforce Services found that 20,025 Social Security numbers are being used by two or more individuals with different surnames. It found 606 children under 13 in its database who were showing earnings. The children drew national headlines, building momentum for the new notification law.

Heather Morton, an analyst in the National Council of State Legislatures who has been following the flurry of Social Security number legislation, says she knows of no other law that allows a
state to notify individuals when their Social Security numbers have been compromised.

Utah officials say they will carefully gauge the response from the 100 letters. The letter directs recipients to a new website (www.idtheft.utah.gov) for assistance in reporting ID theft. The pace of subsequent mailings will depend on how well that system works, say Utah officials.
As Americans fall victim to identity theft by illegals the government has turned it's back on it's citizens in favor of the thieves.

Global Warming Crime Wave - Shocker!

Yet another consequence of global warming - more crime! Oh God, why can't I be this creative?! No, you little people can't make this stuff up, only the folks at ABC are that smart. You can see for yourself - Climate change offers new criminal opportunities, experts warn

After reading the article it should be obvious what "powerful" minds are at work here. The first paragraph reads as follows;

"A meeting of global crime experts has conceded that climate change could spark criminal activities in unconventional areas." Did you catch that? They "conceded" as if to say that they were reluctant to admit it in the first place, but ABC came to the rescue and made them admit it!

This poor guy has been reduced to stealing bottled water. Curse you global warming!

So, what is the new global warming booty so alluring to thieves? - Water, copper wiring, and crystal meth. What?!!! Now, I can see where water might have something to do with global warming, but copper wire and crystal meth? These people must be on some serious drugs!

In case you didn't go to the article to see this gem in professional journalism let's take a look at the following statement from The commission's executive director of national criminal intelligence, Kevin Kitson -

"He says over the counter bans on pseudoephedrine drugs will start to restrict the availability of the main ingredient in crystal methamphetamines.

"We're seeing a change, for example, in the way in which clandestine laboratories are constructed," he said.

Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, (I'm still waiting for something about global warming) blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, ...

"We're making it very much harder for them to do that." End of story.

Now I ask you where is the global warming story? There is nothing in the story that corroborates the headline! Instead the story is about crystal meth. What does crystal meth have to do with global warming?!!!

These people are real Einsteins! This is the type of hysterical idiocy our media spews daily. What in the hell are they teaching our kids in college journalism schools? It would be better if they never went to these colleges. What a waste of time and money for the parents and students. Unfortunately one must have a degree read (indoctrination) from one of the "esteemed" journalism schools in order to get a job in the mainstream media.

As far as I can tell there are more horses rear ends in the mainstream media than there are horses! Global warming equals crime increases? - give me a break! No proof, or documentation, or evidence equals no story!

How many different ways can the GW extortioners be wrong and still retain any credibility? We have cited dozens of the more blatant examples here on Free World Survey. Somehow they get by with it. If scientists in any other field of study were this cavalier and careless with the facts they would have lost all credibility long before now. The global warming "scientists" and pundits seem to have infinite latitude in ignorance and outright fraud.

The real tragedy here is that many of the GW faithful will now see a story on drug crimes involving crystal meth (the global warming drug) and equate it with proof of climate change. They will no doubt conclude that global warming is causing the drug problem. I suppose it best to stop here before I give them any more hair brained ideas.

Judicial Watch - Bad Judges

Where do these judges come from? Are they from Hell? You be the judge! Thousands of Americans are victimized every year because judges like the ones listed here don't, won't or can't do their jobs. Every year thousands of rapes, DUI related deaths, murders, assaults, and robberies occur needlessly in the US and are 100% preventable. Many, if not most of these judges have very liberal judicial philosophies and credentials. The current revolving door of judicial justice is common and very dangerous as you will see ahead.

"He who is compassionate to the cruel will ultimately become cruel to the compassionate." -Author unknown

Below is just a sample of the bad judges many Americans hold in contempt. This list will continue to grow as time permits. If you have any you would like me to add please contact me by email at; webmaster@2centslive.com I will give you full credit in the beginning of the entry. Thank you.

The Enemies Within:

Maryland Judge Joseph Manck earlier this year sentenced a brutal child molester, a man who sexually abused his eight-year-old daughter for seven years to just four months in jail.

Well, now Manck has made another irresponsible decision, and this one may have led to the murder of 19-year-old Samantha McQuillin.

Twenty-three-year-old Matthew Dieterle was convicted of assault and unlawfully carrying an unregistered handgun with the serial number filed of in 2002. Judge Manck gave him 18 months and released him four months short of that on probation.

Almost immediately Dieterle was into legal trouble. Another judge ordered him to stay away from a woman he was bothering. Soon after that, authorities charged the man with another assault. Judge Manck did nothing. And even allowed Dieterle to move to Florida, removing his Maryland probation entirely, even though he violated his parole.

Dieterle allegedly murdered 19-year-old Samantha McQuillin. Florida police say he stabbed and strangled the woman to death, leaving her bloody body in a bathtub.

This judge is yet again proof that there are enemies of US citizens on the bench. How many enemies will we allow? How many innocents have to die?

Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Tanya Kennedy (aka turn'em loose Tanya)
At the trial, prosecutors noted Fisher had been bounced from Syracuse University after similar incidents in women's dorm rooms had led to four arrests for burglary.

Fisher's latest arrest was on May 30, when he was allegedly caught naked and masturbating on the stoop in front of his home.Fisher lives a half-block from the Bleecker Park playground, and less than a mile from several public and private schools.

He was charged with public lewdness and exposure, then freed without bail despite being a registered sex offender on 10 years' probation since his release in 2004. The Manhattan District Attorney's Office asked for $3,000 bail and mentioned his history of sexual abuse, but Fisher was turned loose by Judge Tanya Kennedy.

Kennedy took flak earlier this year for letting recidivist rapper Busta Rhymes go free again and again despite repeated arrests for violent crimes.

The Probation Department said Fisher is required to report in every day. "We think he's dangerous, and we're monitoring him as closely as possible," a spokesman said.

No kidding he is dangerous? Why is he out in the general public?!!! YOU TRAITORS!!!

Nebraska Judge Kristine Cecava Rules Man Too Short For Jail

District Judge Kristine Cecava of Cheyenne County sentenced Richard Thompson, 50, on two counts of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl. He was given 10 years of probation by a judge who said the man was too small to survive prison. His sentence to intensive supervision probation means he'll be electronically monitored for 120 days, he cannot be alone with anyone under 18 and he can't date or live with anyone whose children are under 18.

On Thursday, Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning said he'll appeal the decision.

"I don't care if he's 3 feet tall," Bruning said. "It's an abomination. My office will appeal it. If you abuse a child, you're going to pay a price."

During the sentencing, Cecava told Thompson that he should serve time, but she said his height makes him a potential victim in jail.

Are people of Thompson's height at risk in jail? Carol Durham, with the Pottawattamie County, Iowa, Jail, said Thompson may face trouble behind bars, but not because he's short.

"We have individuals that are small that have functioned very well in general population, and they've done that for years without any kinds of problems, and they're smaller than 5-foot-1," King said.

I 'll bet Richard Thompson didn't check his victims height before he raped her twice. I hope this damnable judge is held accountabe!

Judge Manuel Lopez is notorious for setting bail for, and releasing violent defendants on their own recognizance, some of whom have gone out and killed innocent people after being released by this bad judge.
In December, while Richard Alton Morse Jr. was serving probation for stealing a purse from a car, he was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. The new arrest violated his probation.
By Jan. 26, prosecutors still had not filed formal charges against Morse. They were having a difficult time finding a homeless witness. Lopez released Morse on his own recognizance. Two days later, Morse was arrested again and charged with killing the missing witness.
In another case prosecutors vehemently objected when he set bail for a man who was charged in January with stabbing his nephew to death with a steak knife.
Edwin Kendrick had two convictions for assault and was on probation when he was arrested on a charge of second-degree murder.
Lopez said he thought the state's case might not hold water at trial. He suggested that he might release Kendrick on his own recognizance despite the murder charge and probation violation.
Keefe told the judge that Kendrick was a 'habitual violent offender' who killed a man while on probation.
'The state, with all the possible strength it can muster, objects violently to this defendant getting any bond,' Keefe said, according to the transcript.
Lopez said he knew that he could hold Kendrick but, given the facts, he questioned whether it would be just. Lopez decided to release Kendrick on his own recognizance with an ankle monitor.
Kendrick remains free pending his murder trial.
He also released another violent criminal and white supremacist Michael Allen Phillips on $30,000 bail two months before he fatally shot a Hillsborough County sheriff's sergeant Ron Hamlin Harrison. How many must die needlessly before this judge gets the message?
Judge Maria Lopez's state career ended after she sparked a public outcry for ordering probation -- which was an extremely lenient sentence -- for a transgendered man accused of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old boy. She was also accused of scolding the prosecutor in the case. In 2003, a hearing officer ruled that Lopez had lied under oath and abused her office, and ordered a six-month suspension and a public apology.
Lopez resigned, and later made a deal with the state Commission on Judicial Conduct: She would apologize for berating a court officer without admitting she had violated the judicial code. One of her most famous quotes; "There's only one person who decides the truth here. I DO!!"
Judge Edward Cashman was a district court judge in the State of Vermont. Judge Cashman was heavily criticized for handing out a 60-day jail sentence to an admitted child rapist. After the sentence he must undergo treatment as a sex offender or else face life imprisonment. Over the course of four years, he consistently raped a girl who was seven-years-old at the time the assaults began. Per judge Cashman, his reasons include a desire to remove the idea of "vengeance" or any notion of a retributive theory of justice in favor of treatment alone which, per Cashman, would make children safer. The State of Vermont would not provide sex offender treatment while he was in prison because they considered him as a low risk re-offender. According to Bill O'Reilly in his book, Culture Warrior, Judge Cashman was enacting restorative justice, a topic he has taught at the National Judicial College.
Judge Sam Lindsay, the same judge who tried to mandate that female attorneys wear skirt suits only in his court, ruled in a 20-page finding, "Only the federal government can determine whether a person is in the United States legally." This decision is inconsistent with other rulings regarding environmental and drug laws and local enforcement. Judge Lindsay sided with the ACLU in stating that "Farmers Branch had wrongly used federal laws governing who receives housing subsidies to write its ordinance and had created its own classification system for determining which noncitizens may rent an apartment in the city." Farmers Branch City Council members criticized the judge for ignoring residents' approval of the ordinance, which would require apartment managers to verify that renters are U.S. citizens or legal immigrants before leasing to them, with some exceptions. Violators face fines of up to $500, and each day would be considered a separate violation. "I am disappointed that the judge chose to ignore the will of the people," said City Council member Tim O'Hare, who proposed the ordinance. "However, I am hopeful ... the judge will not grant the preliminary injunction and allow us to enforce the ordinance as voted on by two-thirds of our residents." This case was brought forward by illegal alien proponents ACLU and Maldef. They are now suing the city of Farmers Branch.

A Montgomery Co. judge Katherine Savage dismissed a child rape case against a Liberian immigrant, although it was a slam dunk case where the perp had admitted guilt. She said it was because there were no interpreters for the man's trial, a Baltimore County State Delegate is calling for the judge's impeachment.
Independent news crews have been able to find interpreters within hours. Why couldn't they find one in three years?"The decision was reckless. It was inappropriate, and I'm taking the action that I have as authority as a General Assembly member and state legislator," McDonough told WBAL News.On Tuesday of last week, Montgomery County Circuit Court Judge Katherine Savage dismissed the case of Mahamu Kanneh, who was charged in 2004 with raping and molesting a seven-year-old and a two-year-old.. The judge ruled the delay in finding an interpreter violated Kanneh's constitutional right to a speedy trial.
Baltimore County Delegate Pat McDonough says the decision by Judge Katherine Savage is wrong.McDonough says he will pursue either an impeachment action or address action against the renegade judge.

(No Photo Available) Judge James Munley Tosses Hazleton Immigration Law on July 27, 2007 A federal judge struck down Hazleton's tough anti-illegal immigration law, ruling unconstitutional a measure that has been copied around the country. U.S. District Judge James Munley voided the law based on testimony from a nine-day trial held in March. Hazleton Mayor Lou Barletta called the decision bizarre and said he intends to file an appeal. "This was a case where a federal judge protected the rights of anonymous illegal aliens," he told The Associated Press in a phone interview. "This fight's far from over." The Republican mayor had pushed for the strict laws last summer after two illegal immigrants were charged in a fatal shooting. Barletta argued that illegal immigrants brought drugs, crime and gangs to the city of more than 30,000, overwhelming police and schools. Immigrant groups sued, saying the laws usurp the federal government's exclusive power to regulate immigration, deprive residents of their constitutional rights to equal protection, and violate state and federal housing law. In a 206-page opinion, Munley said the act was pre-empted by federal law and would violate due process rights. "Whatever frustrations ... the city of Hazleton may feel about the current state of federal immigration enforcement, the nature of the political system in the United States prohibits the city from enacting ordinances that disrupt a carefully drawn federal statutory scheme," Munley wrote.
Judge Karen Hall
Jerry Wayne Love who pleaded guilty to three felony charges of first-degree sodomy in the repeated sexual abuse of three of his adopted children will not serve any time in prison. Renegade Circuit Judge Karen Hall ordered Love to spend five years on probation and undergo treatment in a sex offender program.
Love, 51, of 3202 Overhill St., pleaded guilty to charges of sodomizing three young boys he and his wife adopted.
Now here's the kicker:
Prior to serving as circuit judge, she was a Madison County District Judge and an Assistant District Attorney. She served as the Division Chief in the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Unit from 1989 to 1993 and prosecuted only violent crimes from 1994 to 1996. Although the defendent had plead guilty he maintained his innocence thoughout the trial. Judge Karen Hall must have believed him. I wonder if she believed him to be innocent enough to allow him around her children or grandchildren. (If she has any)
